A Knee Osteotomy is a surgery where we cut the bone to help restore the natural native neutral mechanical axis. If one part of the knee is worn out then the alignment of the whole lower extremity is changed. We can then restore it by cutting the tibia and changing the alignment so the weight bearing portion of the knee becomes the healthier compartment. In addition, we do osteotomies for knee cap or patella maltracking. That’s where the knee cap doesn’t track in the groove properly and we can perform a Tibial Tubercle Osteotomy to help with the tracking.
